Walter's East Texas Guide
East Texas can be defined many ways in terms of what area it emcompasses. The first definition
of this part of Texas is the Piney Woods Area. A more broader defination would have the western borders
being Dallas and Houston. The East Texas region is also part of the considerably larger ArkLaTex area.
The East Texas area
is the humid portion of the central dissected belt of the Coastal Plains of the United States which includes the Sabine
Uplift area, the East Texas basin, and the rolling plains southward as far as the coastal prairies (1). Most of East Texas is
forested with Pine trees being the main tree.

Dalton Days is an annual event that
occurs in the Spring which includes a reenactment of the Dalton gang shooutout.
The Mudbug Madness Festival which is a crawfish festival was held in Shreveport,
LA over the memorial day weekend.
